This remodel of a modest three story loft afforded DMMA a rare opportunity to completely invent an aesthetic that is as much about what is not in the space as what is in the space. Small scaled spaces in this loft project are visually expanded by using a very narrow material’s vocabulary, and by simplifying all aspects of the interiors to their most essential qualities. Treating the floor plane as ebonized wood, and by using white as the dominant color in wall, millwork and ceiling planes, enhance the effect of expansiveness and simplicity of the interiors overall. The furnishings too were used sparingly and with great care to leave the interior spaces uncluttered and simple.
