Rural French Country House

This remodel project in Walnut Creek, California, took an awkward 30 year old “spec” home, with over-scaled rooms and arbitrary finishes, and re-shaped it into an up to date family house, in a soft traditional French style. In the re-styling of the home, the strongest elements of the existing structure were retained, and the weakest aspects of the home were re-worked, in order to create a floor plan and room volumes that were relevant to the client’s lifestyle. The studio designed and selected all of the interior finishes and millwork, and then layered in, on top of the newly created backdrop, a furnishing’s blend of antiques and reproductions. The completed project is stylish, coherent and compelling. The combination of antique and unique furnishings gives the house a character of quality and richness.
