This hillside contemporary house is a lovely example of well married interiors and architectural styling. The drama of the large room volumes amplifies the effects of the living spaces themselves, and the continuity in the building materials palette from outside to inside, further heighten the impact of the house experientially. We made a coordinated effort with DrewettWorks Architects, to harmonize and balance the interior finishes and surfaces with the building’s exterior finishes. The line between interior and exterior living space is further blurred by the careful use of pocketing glass walls—which in effect merges the interior with the exterior living spaces. The effect of the finished interiors is simultaneously dramatic and calming. The quality of light and the rich materials palette make for very comfortable interiors, which was the goal of the owner.
